Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I get my hair colored?

To ensure even overall color hair regrowth should not exceed 1-1.5 inches in length. The heat from your scalp works as a catalyst to help process your color. If the new growth is to long the heat is not distributed evenly through the head thus resulting in possible" hot roots" or "gold bands". To be sure of your own personal needs ask your colorist what he/she recommends.

What is Dimensional Highlighting?

Dimensional highlighting,( also known as marbleizing, glazing, lowlighting, etc. ) is when a colorist uses more than one level and tone in the highlighting process. this creates a more natural flowing movement in the hair enabling the colorist to better utilize the cut and layering in the hair. It creates some of the more modern styles seen in the magazines today. Your colorist might also use dimensional highlighting to achieve bolder, more contrasting tones to the hair.

Can I catch a bacterial infection from the manicure and pedicure procedures?

We have all seen the nasty press about bacterial infections caused by improper sanitization of pedicure and manicure tools. We at Head to Toe take special precautions by providing each individual customer with their own personal files, toe separators, and orangewood sticks. Our pedicure and manicure basins are cleaned between each client with a hospital grade disinfectant which kills all forms of bacteria including HIV and Hepatitis. Our implements are also immersed in the same hospital grade disinfectant to ensure your safety.

Hot Rock massage is when our massage therapist uses smooth massage stones to help loosen up tight muscles before the massage. They are heated and placed on pressure points that enable her to better relax your muscles and they feel so good.

What is the difference between a table massage and a chair massage?

The same basic techniques are used in both massages. The true difference is only the location of where they are performed. One is on the massage table the other is on a specially designed massage chair. It's really your choice. Sometimes a chair massage is a great way to introduce yourself to the benefits of bodywork.

Does a Bikini wax hurt?

Hurt is a relative term, it does smart a bit but once you know what to expect its not as bad as you might think. The benefits of waxing far outweigh any pain you may have. When you wax it can take as long as 3 weeks for the hair to return. Not like shaving which starts to grow back immediately. also the hair does not itch as it grows in like it does with shaving. Ideal length is no longer than half an inch. Any swelling or redness that follows should subside within several hours. To prevent ingrown hairs you should regularly exfoliate the area.
